Overview

The Mizuno Pro M-13 is a compact, forged players' iron. It is built as a progressive set: cavity-backed long irons that offer more help, and one-piece forged scoring irons. Testers consistently like the classic Mizuno shape at address, with a fairly thin topline, little offset and a brushed finish. For a head this small, most found it forgiving enough.

Feel is mostly praised as soft and responsive, though one tester found it hard and clicky. Opinions on sound and launch height are split. Spin also divides opinion: the shorter irons stop well, but some testers found spin a little low in the mid and long irons.

It carries a bit shorter than the M-15. It works well as the scoring half of a combo set, and fitting is recommended. The price is high.

What reviewers like

  • Clean, compact classic Mizuno look with minimal offset
  • Soft, responsive forged feel with clear strike feedback
  • Decent forgiveness for a compact players' head
  • Easy to shape shots for skilled ball strikers
  • Pairs well with M-15 long irons in a combo set

Watch out for

  • Expensive compared with many rivals
  • Slightly shorter and less forgiving than the M-15, especially in long irons

Who it suits

It suits low to single-figure handicappers (roughly 0-12) who want workability and a classic look with a little extra help. It also works for consistent ball strikers building a combo set with the M-15.
