Overview
The Mizuno Pro M-15 is a hollow-body players' distance iron. It has a compact, blade-like head and tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons. Most testers say it is longer and more forgiving than the M-13. Mishits hold their speed well, dispersion stays tight, and the ball flies high.
Most testers like how it looks at address: clean, with little offset, and friendlier than the M-13 because of its slightly thicker topline. Fans of a razor-thin Mizuno topline may find it shows a bit too much club.
Testers disagree on feel and sound. Some find it solid, soft and muted, while others call it firm and surprisingly harsh for a Mizuno. Most also note fairly low spin, which can make gapping tricky, and it's less workable than the M-13. It's also expensive.
What reviewers like
- Extra distance over the M-13, especially in the mid irons
- Holds ball speed and distance well on off-centre strikes
- High, easy launch with a steep enough landing to hold greens
- Clean, confidence-inspiring looks with little offset
- Tight dispersion for a compact players' iron
Watch out for
- Fairly low spin can bunch up long- and mid-iron gaps
- Harder to shape shots than the M-13
- Very high price, even among premium irons
- Thicker topline may put off traditional blade fans
Who it suits
It suits better players, from roughly single figures to the low teens, who want height, distance and forgiveness in a player-looking head and care less about shaping shots. Players who spin the ball more may gain the most from it.
